Wiemann Lamphere Architects created a new head office for Vermont Association of the Blind and Visually Imparied, a nonprofit organization providing services to 1,500 clients throughout VT. The project is located on Kimball Avenue, South Burlington.
The 12,000 square foot single story building provides offices for VABVI teachers, providers, and support staff, as well as conference spaces, volunteer work area, storage, resource library, and a reading room. Emphasis was given to the use of color, natural light, and visual guides throughout the project to assist clients in the use of the facility. The building is a steel frame and brick veneer construction with high efficiency mechanical systems and state of the art lighting and electrical controls to reduce energy consumption.
