St. Albans has been undergoing an exciting transformation in recent years. The City has spear-headed several projects, all of which are successfully contributing to the revitalization of downtown St. Albans. This latest project involves the creation of a downtown hotel to be located on a vacant lot in the Historic District. The City solicited proposals from developers and awarded the project to PeakCM and Wiemann Lamphere Architects. This 84 room hotel is a terrific example of an urban infill project that will help to restore the Lake Street corridor and bring business and activity to a dormant portion of the City. The hotel will be a franchised hotel, but will feature a non-prototypical exterior palette of materials so that it blends in with the context of the neighborhood and fits the requirements of the district. The hotel will include typical services such as meeting rooms, laundry, indoor pool and breakfast area.
Construction is expected to proceed in the spring of 2016.
