Caledonia Spirits partnered with WLA to develop a destination distillery along the Winooski River in Montpelier, VT.  Beyond a standard manufacturing facility, the owner envisioned making the project the go-to venue for gatherings in the city of Montpelier, by creating a rentable venue space for various types of gatherings.  The 26,000 sf facility includes distillery space viewable from a public tour, exhibit space, office space to support the business, a barrel aging warehouse, as well as retail and event space.  The layout of the facility is based on a campus design with multiple pitched roofs connected by a lower flat roof to give each important building space a unique look and feel. Sustainable features include an 83.7 kW DC Photovoltaic system, process waste heat recovery, building heat recovery system, and process waste material recycling to local farms.
