As a child, Brant became interested in architecture while playing with Lincoln Logs, Legos, and an Erector set, and then went to college to study architecture at Washington University in St. Louis. After working in construction for a few years, he then went to graduate school at Virginia Tech and became a Hokie. He won the Washington University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2002 and his thesis project at Virginia Tech won the Virginia Concrete Masonry Award. Upon graduation he moved to New York City where he began his professional career as a Project Architect and Manager in an architectural firm specializing in commercial renovation and new construction, museums, warehouses, synagogues, and airports. Later he moved to Los Angeles, CA where he worked on many different types of projects including retail stores, restaurants, café’s, hotels, courthouses, childcare centers, office buildings, and single and multi-family residences. In addition to projects throughout the United States he also worked on projects in Canada, France, Korea, Dubai, and China. He has now returned to Vermont as a licensed architect and, outside of the office, he is a painter and photographer, and he also enjoys hiking and skiing.
