The Windham
District Court has been in operation for 30 years and required a complete
mechanical up-grade to make the system more economical and more efficient to
operate. During the course of the
mechanical upgrade, it was determined that a substantial amount of additional
work was necessary to bring the building up to current standards.
WLA was asked to
join the MEP team in order to provide architectural direction and develop new
concepts for access, improved operations, security, code compliance and
interior finishes.
The improvements
included:
- Re-working the
primary public approach and entrance into the building
- Expanding the
security area to improve flow into the building and improving monitoring and
communications systems within the building
- Creating a new
family court on the second level
- Consolidating
court support staff into one area and provide better public access to support
staff
- Improved lobby
and public area amenities
- Improved public
accessibility and improved code compliance of bathrooms
- WLA worked with a
local artist to create focal points within the building
- New high
efficiency lighting systems installed
