Silt Botanical Bathhouse
Burlington, VT
27,000 SF Nordic Bathhouse
Silt Bathhouse is a state-of-the-art Nordic inspired bathhouse with the goals of bringing back the lost art of community bathing, providing a community wellness destination and a modern-day social club. The space is designed to provide a peaceful getaway within the urban setting of Burlington’s south end. The architecture and design supports the wellness concept and is inspired by biophilic design concepts including an earth berm entrance and a Rhassoul treatment space built within an earth berm. The building is supported by extensive relaxing gardens, outdoor thermal pools and other amenities such as saunas and steam rooms. There is an all-season greenhouse that creates a social gathering space, a place for relaxation and a place to be immersed in botanical plants. The second floor features a roof deck with views to Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks as well as a hot thermal pool and large community sauna. The project was originally planned and designed for a location in Burlington, VT as a brownfield redevelopment but due to the high cost of the brownfield remediation and lack of funding resources to aid in the cleanup, the project is now being pursued in an alternate location.
