Being in and around construction has always been a part of Steve’s life.  As the son of a residential builder in Vermont, Steve grew up with a keen interest in how things go together and a fondness for building.  Working summers, school vacations and some weekends from about the age of 12, Steve has always felt comfortable with a tool in his hand and a plan to get something built.  He attended Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston where he picked up a love of urban construction and city life, and studied for a semester in Montpellier, France which provided him the opportunity to travel through much of Europe.  Fast forward several years after college and though there is a little less hammer swinging these days, his passion still lies in solving problems and looking for the best way to build the world around us.  Steve has a great interest in new materials and systems and seeks ways to make buildings more efficient, more comfortable, and more environmentally friendly, leading to his role as Sustainability Director of WLA.

Outside of the office, Steve enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife of 20 years and his two amazing teenagers.  He still tries playing third base in a summer baseball league and enjoys many late nights playing ice hockey as a goalie.  Steve will never miss an opportunity to joke about his “Uncle Pat” (Patrick Roy #33) who taught him everything he knows about playing goalie by watching Hockey Night in Canada and cheering on the Habs. It’s fair to say his household revolves around sports of one kind or another!
